Police investigate truck taken from hotel parking garage

Police said after reviewing surveillance footage that two men, one of which was shirtless, appear to be responsible for taking a truck early Monday morning from a hotel parking garage.

Myrtle Beach police officers were flagged down about 9:30 a.m. Monday near a hotel parking garage at 2506 N. Ocean Blvd., where a 47-year-old man reported the incident, according to a police report.

The victim told authorities he parked his black 2008 Toyota Tundra about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking garage and when he went back the next morning, there was a different car in the spot where he parked, police said.

The victim said he couldn’t find his truck anywhere in the parking garage and told hotel management, who reviewed surveillance footage, authorities said.

Police said the surveillance footage revealed two men, one thin and one heavyset and wearing only shorts, went into the parking garage about 5 a.m. Monday and left in the victim’s truck.

The victim said he didn’t recognize the suspects and remembered locking his truck, but does keep a spare key in the center console, and that the suspects must have found it, authorities said.

Police are still investigating the incident.

No arrests had been made in connection with the incident as of Tuesday morning.
