General Manager Named for New Holiday Inn Near Times Square
GREAT NECK, N.Y. (June 16, 2015) – M&R Hotel Management today announced the appointment of Marcello Munoz as general manager of the 271-room Holiday Inn New York–Times Square South ̶ the newest addition to its managed portfolio ̶ which is scheduled to open later this year.
The 35-story hotel, now under construction at 585 Eighth Ave., becomes the 13th New York hotel in M&R Hotel Management’s 15-hotel portfolio, which also includes four other New York-area Holiday Inn hotels.
Munoz, a 26-year hospitality industry veteran, previously served hotels in New York and St. Louis, Missouri. He will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s operations, including sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting.
Prior to joining M&R Hotel Management, Munoz served four New York hotels as general manager: the Hilton Garden Inn New York/Times Square Central, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York City Financial District, the Renaissance Hotel New York 57 and the TRYP by Wyndham Times Square South.
He also was area general manager of The Park South Hotel and The Strand Hotel NYC, executive assistant manager of the former Park Hyatt U.N. Plaza and front office director of the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch in Missouri.
“Marcello’s years of experience as a general manager in the hotel industry, especially leading the opening teams in the increasingly competitive Times Square area, makes him highly qualified to serve as general manager of our new Holiday Inn New York – Time Square South,” said Brian McSherry, M&R Hotel Management chief operating officer.
Munoz earned a bachelor’s degree at St. Louis University in Missouri. He also is certified as a hospitality trainer and director of fire safety.
The Holiday Inn New York Times Square South will feature king and queen rooms, a full-service restaurant, meeting facilities for up to 35 people, 24-hour business and fitness centers and complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet service throughout the hotel. Guest rooms and public spaces will be decorated consistent with the Holiday Inn brand’s contemporary design.
The Holiday Inn New York–Times Square South joins M&R Hotel Management’s three Manhattan hotels: the Holiday Inn NYC–Lower East Side, Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West and Comfort Inn Midtown West. The company also operates six hotels in Queens, three on Staten Island, a hotel in the Boston suburb of Braintree, Massachusetts, and a hotel on St. Maarten.
M&R Hotel Management’s portfolio also includes Holiday Inn Express hotels, franchised by InterContinental Hotels Group, as well as the hotel brands of Choice Hotels International, Wyndham Hotel Group and BEST WESTERN International.
