Daytona airport hotel changes hands, management
DAYTONA BEACH – The Hampton Inn at Daytona Beach International Airport officially changed hands last week, a member of the hotel’s new ownership group confirmed.
Manoj Bhoola, president of Ormond Beach-based Elite Hospitality, said his family completed its nearly $7 million purchase of the 122-room hotel at 1715 W. International Speedway Blvd., in front of the Volusia County-run airport, on June 23. Elite won an online bidding for the hotel in late March. The seller was U.S. Bank.
Bhoola said Elite has retained most of the hotel’s staff, with the exception of a few who decided to stay with the property’s former management company, North Palm Beach-based Driftwood Hospitality Management. He said his company intends to increase the hotel’s staff to 25 to 30, up from 20 prior to the sale. He said his company also plans to make improvements to the hotel over the next year.
Elite now owns five hotels in Volusia County, including the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport, next door to the Hampton Inn. Elite’s purchase was of the hotel, not the actual land, which belongs to the county. The hotel’s lease expires in 2027.
